Types of scholarships

The Papa Konga Foundation offers several categories of scholarships to meet diverse needs.

Vocational and Technical Training Scholarships:

These scholarships are offered to the three demographic categories covered by the Foundation: Aboriginal youth in Canada, African-Americans, and youth from developing countries around the world.

  • You must be regularly enrolled in a public or private college or institute offering professional training or have been accepted for training by an officially recognized professional order or trade association.
  • The funds allocated to this scholarship will be based on the cost of the training
  • The relevance of the training to the scholarship applicant and its potential to enable a qualitative change in the immediate environment of the fellow will be appreciated at the time of selection.

Support grants

The Papa Konga Foundation will provide scholarships to support the studies of identified candidates in Canada and around the world. The purpose of these scholarships is to support academic or professional training for candidates who meet all of our eligibility criteria and who, through various sources, have some means to support themselves.:

  • For these scholarships, the candidate must be regularly enrolled in a university or vocational training.
  • He must provide a budget showing that he has the means to continue his studies if the Foundation grants him the sums required.
  • He must show that the sums he has at his disposal will be guaranteed for the duration of his studies.
  • This demonstration can be done with a certificate of part-time work, another partial scholarship or certification of the contribution of another organization

Full scholarships

This type of scholarship is intended to fully support the scholarship and living expenses of the fellow. In addition to meeting all the eligibility criteria, the candidate should demonstrate the need for full funding of their studies.

Scholarships in this category are limited to the availability of funds.

The contingency grants

These scholarships are given according to the particular situations. These are scholarships that are requested during the academic year. They intervene when a student has started his training and is stuck because he cannot pursue it for lack of means while he has notes and assessments of his evaluators who demonstrate his ability to be successful in his studies. The applicant for this type of scholarship must explain the reasons for his financial inability to continue his studies.
